Sociology (SOCA) is a non-lab based honours subject available in Day shift under the BACHELOR OF ARTS Course in our college.
The Department of Sociology was established in the year 2003 as B.A. General Course was initiated with the origin of this institution. The Honours course (CBCS) was introduced in the year 2018 (session 2018-2019) in the undergraduate level affiliated by the West Bengal State University. The department of Sociology is very much effective and young in this college. Students and faculties are also participating in different type of academic and social activities. As Sociology has a dynamic nature, students are able to learn and gain experience both inside and outside the class.
Basically the class is informative lecture-based, our esteemed faculty members intensively discuss the core areas of the subject. Study material is provided to the students for their better understanding. Students are motivated to pursue higher studies to enhance their wisdom and compete in various state and national level examinations.

The Departmental Library (Seminar Library) has a veritable collection of sociology books of Western and Indian Author as well as English and Bengali version books are available here. Students can access and use those books for their study.

Students are also encouraged to present Seminar Paper on topics related to their syllabus, current affairs of national and international relevance.
Teachers also join National, International or State Level Seminars organised by different universities and colleges.
Teachers of this department take part in Faculty Improvement Programmes like Orientation Programmes, Refresher Courses arranged by the university.
